About

Looking forward to building your cycling skills for the upcoming season?

Then join Andy Wilson from Cycle Canada and coach Todd for this informative, practical and hands on session on cycling skills.

This year our session will be divided into two groups, Beginner and Intermediate sessions.

The Beginner group will meet at Tunney's pasture at 9:00am and the Focus will be on:

on Basic handling skills: Balance, straight line riding, basic slalom, emergency turns, shoulder checks, discussion on signalling (in traffic, in competition), gearing. Then we will turn our attention to

- Clipping and un-clipping from your pedals (transitions)

- Turning - pedal placement

- Threshold braking

and then finish things off with the do's and don'ts of cycling.

Bring water bottles and your willingness to learn.

Our intermediate/advanced session starts at Tunney's at noon and will deal with more advanced handling skills:

- Slalom

- Figure 8

- Quick turn

- Gearing

The group will then ride to Aviation Parkway (much wider shoulder) to work on

- Group riding skills (drafting)

- Riding in close proximity

- Hand on shoulder/elbow to elbow

and then follow up with threshold braking and the do's and don'ts.

Be prepared for a longer session so bring your water bottle and snacks.

This session will be based on weather with updates on the Forum page of the OTC website the day before and the day of.

It will be a great day.
